The Problem
RR7 Road in Tellapur has limited green cover and shade as the corridor develops rapidly, and a community plantation effort needs suitable native species and technical guidance to succeed over the long term.
Our Action
Service for Society proposed a community plantation drive along RR7 Road in association with volunteers from the gated communities along the road, with an initial target of approximately 500 saplings.
Representation
Request submitted to the Urban Forest Department, Government of Telangana, for native, drought-tolerant, road-suitable trees, shrubs and plants along with guidance on species selection, planting, spacing and maintenance — species suited to Telangana's climate and soil, requiring low water and maintenance, providing shade and biodiversity, and safe to plant along the road without affecting traffic visibility, utilities or pedestrian movement.
Follow-up
S4S will coordinate the plantation drive, mobilize volunteers from the surrounding gated communities and work with communities on watering and care of the saplings to ensure long-term survival.
